From now on, our magazine reaches out to the whole world with an all-English digital version! What’s more, it’s now bi-monthly! So you can look forward to new content every two months!

A showcase for French excellence

This issue features one of France’s proudest names in folding knives: Grind Tactical Knives, GTK . Winner of awards at the world’s leading trade fairs, its creator Thomas Gony embodies the international influence of French know-how, alongside other exceptional cutlers. With their elegant designs, high-precision mechanisms and irreproachable finishes, these craftsmen perpetuate a tradition of excellence that has made French arts and crafts famous for centuries. Despite a sometimes uncertain economic climate, this sector can count on a new generation of talented, dynamic and promising craftsmen.

Opening up to the arts and crafts

In keeping with this dynamic, La Passion des Couteaux now wishes to broaden its outlook by devoting a feature to Métiers d’Art. The aim is to spotlight creators from other craft disciplines, often linked to cutlery. To inaugurate this new section, this issue presents the Maison Tournaire, an exceptional jeweller whose creations are regularly associated with Atelier 1515 knives.

Market news and views

As usual, the magazine also offers an overview of the latest news in the sector, along with buying ideas and a look back at the winter 2025-2026 trade shows. Collector François Robineau’s point of view extends the reflection initiated earlier, with a critical analysis of the cutlery market and concrete proposals for its future. Fandecouteaux’s ” Coups de cœur” section focuses this time on knives with solid handles, which received particular attention at Shot Show 2026.

Between technique and tradition

Enthusiasts of exceptional pieces will also find the section dedicated to collector’s knives, produced in collaboration with the FX Academy, featuring remarkable contemporary multi-piece knives. A more technical section completes this issue with a detailed explanation of folding knife mechanisms, in particular ferrule systems, following on from the study of two-nail models presented in the previous issue. There’s also a focus on cutlery, reminding us that cutlery is part and parcel of a wider and still very much alive savoir-faire.

Encounters and discoveries

Finally, this issue features a number of encounters and discoveries: talented young knifemakers such as Laïos Noël, Atelier Altaïr and Martin Mougeot-Bohers, a focus on toolmaker Jolivet Mécanique, and a detour to Great Britain with bushcraft brand TBS Knives. Readers will also discover Lepage Knives and a remarkable new creation, illustrating once again the innovation and creativity that drive the sector.

Exploration

Excellence is also to be found in Sweden, in the hands and mind of Peter Johnsson, who for over thirty years has been exploring swords both as historical objects and as vehicles of timeless meaning. His work lies at the crossroads of craftsmanship, archaeology and art, in a dialogue between the measurable and the mythical, between geometry and imagination.
