Description

With this 21st annual special issue of La Passion des Couteaux, also named “World Panorama
of Cutlery,” we invite you on a journey. The passion for knives is experienceddifferently around the world, depending on each country’s history and culture. If, in
these conflictual times, we find ourselves tearing each other apart, imagining that we are very
different from our neighbors, let us remember that we are all united by the knife, the
cutting tool that has always been vital to us and that sparks wonderful passions worldwide
.

So, we offer you an overview, just for your enjoyment:

  • The return of the SHOT Show is presented to us by our author and YouTuber
fandecouteaux, who traveled to Las Vegas to share with us the
trends and innovations in global cutlery in 2025. There’s a lot happening!
  • We then embark on a journey around the world to discover different
    approaches to our favorite tool.

    • First, we return to Latin America to follow up on special issue
No. 20 of 2024. We had previously explored the booming Brazilian cutlery scene, but
we also wanted to introduce you to Argentine cutlery, which is booming, notably
thanks to the spectacular talent of the Sobral brothers.
    • Then we go to see what’s happening in Asia, where cultural disparities
reflect the situation in many countries and where traditions and modernity coexist.
    • We also wanted to take a look at cutlery worldwide, focusing
on the fascinating theme of cutlers’ guilds. They exist in all four corners
of the globe, and we asked cutler Denis Mura to help us
      understand what characterizes them.
    • To conclude our journey, we return to France for the 3rd Tour de France of
Cutlery Shops. This way, during your walks and excursions in
France, you’ll know which shop to visit to buy your favorite tool. You’ll
see that there are plenty of different kinds: cutlery shops, hardware stores, shared workshops,
      artisan craft shops…
