With its cover featuring the great outdoors, where Jérôme Lamic’s magnificent knife takes center stage, this issue invites you to breathe, to dream, amidst the current anxious climate, and to immerse yourself in the fascinating and infinite world of knives.
We’ve chosen to feature Jérôme Lamic, partly for his talent as a creator of functional and exquisite tool-jewelry, and partly for him to tell us about his title of “Un des Meilleurs Ouvriers de France”. After the cancellation of the 2022 exams for the cutlery field, registrations are finally open, and we support each participant.
Also in this issue:
- A few pages of news with current updates and shopping ideas to immerse you in the world, following your section where we give you the opportunity to tell us about the moment your knife saved you;
- A review of the Winter 2025 cutlery shows, featuring a wide variety of settings and cutlers, showcasing the best of French artisanal cutlery;
- A technical section dedicated to artisanal metallurgy, which was the subject of meetings organized in Coëron (44) at Nicolas Bertet’s workshop “La Forge de la Rivière”;
- Dream of being Batman? Maxime Blanchet shows you what you can throw to be a true superhero;
- Alexis Brus explains in the field how the multi-tool knife is essential for adventurers and which ones he uses;
- Because we are committed to presenting the knife as a life-saving tool, we are testing a knife here that was specially designed for this by the French company TB Outdoor: the Vengeur;
- Collectors have different motivations. Two articles present two types of collections: one built by a collector who launched contemporary knifemakers on a common project around a mythical figure, the Clint Eastwood Project, and the other, explained by our partner Académie FX, showcases some splendid old and current examples of a type of knife known as friendship knives.
- Cutlery is also a field where creativity and business acumen lead certain exceptional companies to break the mold. We thus present the American Ben Petersen and the very international Frenchman Pierre SUPPER. You will then understand how varied and infinite this field is, creating bridges with other equally exciting sectors!
- Architecture isn’t the only field with monuments; cutlery has them too! Discover here the incredible story of the famous ‘Bulldog’ model, with an unprecedented revelation! The German brand Otter is also part of this and is bringing its classics back into fashion with the Bergman.
- Finally, meet some of our best knifemakers and current favorites: Arnaud Gidel l’Ame de l’Ouest, Atelier Legoff, and Silvain Dixneuf.
