Back to the workshop!<\/strong><\/h2>\n

It\u2019s back-to-school time. After the summer\u2019s trade shows, gatherings, and detours, the workshop doors are reopening, the machines are picking up their rhythm again, and the hammers are ringing out once more. For this issue, we\u2019ve chosen to take you back to where it all begins: to those workshops where materials are transformed, where ideas take shape, and where, year after year, the great stories of cutlery are forged. Because behind every remarkable knife, there is always a man, a woman, a skill, a standard\u2026 and a lot of hard work.
\nPassion as a Driving Force
\nLasting success in the cutlery industry is never a matter of chance. It takes talent, of course, but also patience, perseverance, and the ability to constantly challenge oneself. Laurent Gaillard is a prime example of this. A cutler for over thirty years, he has weathered the challenges of a sometimes unpredictable market without ever giving up. Today, his experience and generosity\u2014especially toward young cutlers\u2014make him a key figure in the trade. Along with Tom Popplert and Wim Werner, we also discover two other personalities whose worlds are unlike any others.<\/p>\n

From Sketch to Finished Piece<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Creating a knife is also a process of reflection, research, and knowledge-sharing. Pierre Reverdy takes us step by step through the creation of an exceptional piece, the \u201cPhare de l\u2019\u00eele.\u201d Peter Johnsson, a Swedish swordsmith, invites us to look at the creative process from a different angle, drawing on the traces left by history. And because a workshop would be nothing without its tools, we take a closer look at the drop hammer\u2014this impressive machine that has become an integral part of the world of blacksmithing.<\/p>\n

The Knife in All Its Forms<\/strong><\/h2>\n

This issue isn\u2019t limited to workshops. We\u2019re also taking a look at those who carry on the cutler\u2019s craft. VD Cuir shows us just how important the sheath is, crafted with the same precision and dedication as the knife it accompanies. On the consumer side, we took on a challenge: finding effective bushcraft knives for under \u20ac80. We\u2019ve also selected the latest news, buying ideas, and the top trade shows for summer 2026.<\/p>\n

Favorites in the World of Art Crafts<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Finally, it\u2019s time for discovery and curiosity. @fandecouteaux\u2019s \u201cFavorites\u201d spotlight Piratech, while Vulpex Knives opens the doors to its Berlin-based world. Our \u201cCollection\u201d feature reveals the passion of a discerning collector-turned-patron, surrounded by exceptional pieces. And to wrap things up, we step away from cutlery for a moment with C\u00e9line Martinant, who combines volcanic stone and fire with astonishing mastery. A beautiful reminder that, in all the arts and crafts, passion remains the greatest driving force.<\/p>\n
